Popular Book Store, one of the the oldest names in book trade in Chandigarh, was founded by Late Sh. Kishan Chand Arora in the year 1956 after crossing over from Dera Gazi Khan in Pakistan at the time of Partition.
Started with only Rs.Two thousand in his pocket and one employee and not knowing how far he will be able to take this venture in this still to develop city. However it was not long before he started to gain the confidence of the people by his fair business practices and competitive prices. What started with a handful of customers soon became a household name in the city and its surrounding areas.
The store that had only a few books when it started, became the supplier of books to a number of schools and colleges of the city and adjoining areas and became a household name in the process. Today after around 65 years of operations we are the largest supplier of school and college books in the tricity of Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali and also the adjoining states of Punjab, Haryana & Himachal Pradesh, enjoying patronage of thousands of students from Nursery to University level.
People coming to us often say that when they were studying they used to buy books from us, then their children and now it is their grandchildren whom they accompany to our store.
